Game Overview:
*Curse of the Dead Gods* is a roguelike action-dungeon crawler developed by Passtech Games and published by Focus Home Interactive. Players navigate a series of procedurally generated temples, engaging in combat and exploration. The game features a persistent "Corruption" mechanic, which accumulates over time and bestows both curses and powerful boons. Death is permanent, requiring players to restart their run from the beginning, but unlocks and progress carry over.
Key Features:
- Roguelike Structure: Procedurally generated levels, permanent death, and a focus on repeated runs with incremental progression.
- Combat System: Features a stamina-based combat system with a variety of weapons, including melee, ranged, and two-handed options. Players utilize dodges, parries, and contextual attacks.
- Corruption Mechanic: As players delve deeper, a Corruption meter fills. Upon reaching certain thresholds, new curses are applied, altering gameplay. Some curses offer beneficial trade-offs.
- Shrines and Offerings: Players can make offerings at shrines to acquire new weapons, relics, and stat upgrades, often at the cost of health or an increase in Corruption.
- Exploration and Traps: Environments contain various traps and environmental hazards that can be exploited against enemies or avoided.
- Boss Encounters: Distinct boss battles challenge player skill and build strategies.
- Unlockable Content: Progression unlocks new weapons, relics, blessings, and starting options for subsequent runs.
