Product Overview:

Grand Theft Auto III is an open-world action-adventure game developed by DMA Design and published by Rockstar Games. Released in 2001, it is notable for its transition to a fully 3D environment, establishing many conventions for the open-world genre. Players assume the role of Claude, a silent protagonist navigating the fictional Liberty City, a metropolis inspired by New York City. The narrative follows Claude's journey through the criminal underworld after being left for dead during a bank heist. The game features a non-linear structure, allowing players to freely explore Liberty City and undertake missions at their own pace. Missions are typically assigned by various crime syndicates and involve tasks such as assassinations, robberies, and vehicle-based challenges. The urban environment is populated with pedestrians and vehicles, and players can interact with both. A wide array of vehicles, including cars, boats, and a Dodo airplane, are available for use. Combat mechanics involve both melee attacks and various firearms, such as pistols, shotguns, and rocket launchers. The game includes a "wanted level" system, where law enforcement pursues the player based on their criminal activities. The more severe the crimes, the higher the wanted level and the more aggressive the pursuit. The game's world is divided into three main islands: Portland, Staunton Island, and Shoreside Vale, which unlock progressively throughout the storyline. Grand Theft Auto III's soundtrack features multiple in-game radio stations, each broadcasting different genres of music and talk shows.
