Gameplay Mechanics
- Third-Person Perspective: Players control Agent 47 from a third-person viewpoint.
- Stealth Focus: The game emphasizes stealth over direct combat. Players are encouraged to avoid detection, utilize disguises, and carefully plan their approach to targets.
- Weaponry: A variety of firearms, bladed weapons, and improvised items can be used. Agent 47 can carry two main weapons, a secondary weapon, and several items.
- Disguise System: Agent 47 can acquire and wear various disguises to blend into environments and bypass security. The effectiveness of a disguise depends on the area and proximity to suspicious individuals.
- Accident System: Opportunities exist to stage target eliminations as accidents, reducing suspicion and improving mission ratings.
- Notoriety System: Actions taken during missions, such as being witnessed or leaving evidence, contribute to a notoriety rating. A higher notoriety level increases the likelihood of being recognized in subsequent missions. Players can use money to bribe witnesses or destroy evidence to lower notoriety.
Mission Structure
The game features 13 missions, each presenting a primary target or set of targets for elimination. Missions are typically open-ended, allowing for multiple approaches and solutions. Post-mission, players receive a performance rating based on factors like stealth, efficiency, and collateral damage.

- Money System: Successfully completing missions earns money, which can be used to upgrade weapons, purchase equipment, and manipulate the notoriety system.
