Kona is a first-person narrative exploration and survival game set in Northern Canada in 1970. Players assume the role of Carl Faubert, a private detective arriving in the fictional village of Atamipek to investigate a series of acts of vandalism against local industrialist, W. Hamilton. Upon arrival, Faubert finds the village deserted and covered in an unusual blizzard, prompting a deeper investigation into the circumstances.
The game combines elements of investigation, survival, and a supernatural mystery. Players will:
- Explore the expansive, snow-covered environment of Atamipek, including a frozen lake, cabins, and other structures.
- Investigate clues left behind by the villagers to piece together the narrative. This involves examining objects, reading documents, and interpreting environmental storytelling.
- Survive the harsh winter conditions. Players must manage Carl's body temperature, health, and stress levels.
- Gather resources such as firewood, medical supplies, and tools to aid in survival and progression.
- Interact with various objects and the environment to solve puzzles and uncover new areas.
- Drive a snowmobile across the large map to traverse distances more efficiently.
Key Features:
- Narrative-Driven Exploration: Focuses on unfolding a story through environmental interaction and clue discovery.
- Survival Mechanics: Requires players to manage warmth, health, and other vitals in a cold environment.
- Investigation Gameplay: Uncover the mystery of the deserted village through careful observation and deduction.
