Game Type & Mechanics

Tainted Grail: Conquest is a roguelike deck-building game with a focus on real-time combat. Players navigate procedurally generated maps within the dark fantasy world of Avalon. The core gameplay loop involves exploring, engaging in combat, collecting resources, and upgrading characters and their card decks.

Combat System

Combat unfolds in real-time, requiring players to manage character abilities and the cards in their hand. Different character classes feature unique combat mechanics and card synergies. The deck-building aspect involves acquiring new cards, removing unwanted ones, and optimizing the deck for specific strategies.

Progression & Replayability

The roguelike structure means permanent death. Upon defeat, players restart with some meta-progression elements carrying over, such as unlocked characters or permanent upgrades that enhance future runs. This system is designed to encourage experimentation with different builds and strategies across multiple playthroughs.

Setting & Narrative

The game is set in the world of Avalon, drawing inspiration from Arthurian legends but with a distinct dark fantasy twist. Players explore a dying world corrupted by the Wyrdness. While not a heavily narrative-driven experience, lore fragments and character interactions contribute to the atmosphere.
